About BetMzansi
Last updated 2 July 2026
BetMzansi is an independent guide to sports betting, lucky numbers and betting sites in South Africa. We are not a bookmaker. Our job is to help South African punters bet more safely and make better-informed choices, with honest reviews, plain-English guides and daily results.
What we do
We review every licensed SA bookmaker, explain how games like Aviator and Spina Zonke really work, walk you through deposits, withdrawals and FICA, and track the results and lucky numbers South Africans search for most - UK49s, Gosloto and the SA lotteries.
How we stay independent
Our reviews and rankings are based on hands-on testing, not on who pays us the most. We open a real account at each bookmaker, deposit, place bets and withdraw before we publish. Ratings are never for sale, and a commercial relationship never changes what we write.
How we make money
BetMzansi is free to use. When you sign up with a bookmaker through some of our links, we may earn a commission. This never costs you anything extra and never influences our ratings or rankings. See our review methodology for exactly how we score sites.
Who writes for BetMzansi
BetMzansi is written by a small team of independent, freelance South African specialists. Between them they cover sportsbook analysis, payments and platform testing, and compliance and responsible gambling.
- Thabo Mokoena - Lead Betting Analyst & Sportsbook Reviewer (Johannesburg, South Africa). Thabo is a freelance sports betting analyst with over 8 years of experience reviewing online bookmakers, odds markets, promotions and betting platforms for South African players. He leads our sportsbook testing - comparing sign-up offers, mobile betting, payment methods, bet slip usability, live betting and responsible-gambling tools - and has strong knowledge of football, rugby, cricket and horse racing. He does not promote betting as a way to make guaranteed income; his reviews focus on transparency, safety, usability and responsible gambling.
- Priya Naidoo - Compliance & Responsible Gambling Editor (Durban, South Africa). Priya is a freelance editor who oversees our trust, safety and responsible-gambling content, with 6+ years in consumer-protection content and compliance-led editing. She makes sure every review clearly explains licensing, age restrictions, bonus conditions, account verification and withdrawal rules, and that our guides avoid misleading claims. She focuses on helping readers understand wagering requirements, self-exclusion, deposit limits, cooling-off periods and how to spot risky gambling behaviour.
- Michael van der Merwe - Payments & Platform Testing Specialist (Cape Town, South Africa). Michael is a freelance platform tester with over 7 years in digital product testing and fintech-style user journeys. He tests the practical side of each betting site - deposits, withdrawals, registration, mobile usability, customer support and verification - and reviews payment options like bank cards, EFT, instant banking and mobile deposit methods. He checks how clearly a site explains withdrawal times, minimum deposits, identity verification and support before you put any money in.
Our editorial standards
We only feature bookmakers licensed in South Africa. We test what we review by using our own money, we date every page and re-check it, and we correct mistakes quickly when readers flag them. We keep a clear line between our editorial ratings and any commercial relationship: advertising never buys a better score or a higher ranking, and we say so plainly on every money page.
Play responsibly
Betting is for adults (18+) and should be fun, not a way to make money. If gambling is causing you harm, free and confidential help is available from the National Responsible Gambling Programme on 0800 006 008.
